The Leukemia Research Foundation extends our deepest gratitude to these sponsors who have committed themselves to our cause.
Jim Gibbons was a 25-year veteran investigative reporter at ABC7 when he succumbed to leukemia. He was well known for his expert reporting ability and his generous heart. In his memory, his family and the entire staff at ABC7 in Chicago partner with the Leukemia Research Foundation to sponsor the Annual Jim Gibbons Memorial 5K Run & Walk. Jim's dear friends, reporters Janet Davies and Frank Mathie, co-chair the race every year.
Since 2000, Advance Transformer has sponsored a golf outing and donated all the proceeds to the LRF, through Andy's Chapter of Hope. Employees selected the Foundation after their own lives were touched by leukemia. Advance Transformer also includes the LRF in its employee payroll deduction program.
Allstate began its sponsorship of the Foundation many years ago. Year after year Allstate continues to support the Foundation by providing high quality printing services for high profile events.
The Coleman Foundation first funded the LRF for the 2005 Inagural Bone Marrow, Stem Cell, and Cord Blood Transplant Conference. Seeing the value in the Foundation and its programs, they have now elevated their support to underwrite one New Investigator research grant and support our Patient Education and Outreach Series. The Series includes our Town Hall Meeting in Spanish (October), our Town Hall Meeting (January), and the Transplant Conference (March).
Fleet Feet Chicago has been a sponsor of the Jim Gibbons Memorial 5K Run, 3K Walk and Survivors' Strut since 1999. They have been wonderful supporters of the Foundation, sharing their time and remarkable expertise on all matters related to the running and walking world. Store owners Dave and Lisa Zimmer were given our "Star of the Year" award for 2003.
WDRV 97.1 - The Drive - came on the Chicago radio scene a few years ago, and joined forces with the Leukemia Research Foundation shortly thereafter by sponsoring the 2001 Angels in the Fairway golf outing hosted by the Joey's Angels Chapter. Most recently, members of the station assisted the Foundation in creating a video used to educate youngsters about leukemia, and the effect that treatment can have on their ill friend.
